- Place the mattress on top of the rope, going in the same direction as the car.
- Roll all of the windows down.
- Make sure that all pieces of rope are secured to the front and back bumper.
- Have everyone involved get inside the car.
- Take two pieces of rope and weave them through the windows and around the middle of the mattress at least four times. This should be done twice in the front and twice in the back for maximum security. Tie each remaining pieces of rope and double check the others.

- With a group of friends, you will be able to move the mattress by setting it on its side and lifting the top end off the ground or floor. Allow the other end to drag gently.
- You can also transport a mattress with ropes. Simply attach a rope around the front end of the mattress. Take another piece and tie it to the middle of the first rope that you placed. Then wrap it around the backside of the mattress and secure to the other side. You will move the mattress by grabbing the horizontal ropes where they attach to the vertical pieces. When moving a mattress up the stairs, be careful to maneuver in a way that won’t damage the walls.
